Ever Complete, Never Whole

Preparing food with my family for the first month of the lunar year has become a ritual during the Spring Festival.

Around the 25th of the twelfth lunar month, my parents will start making cooked meat one after another. Braised beef and pig offals, stewed chicken, boiled mutton, steamed meatballs, wrapped egg rolls, crispy roasted pork, fried hairtail, everything. The food all exudes a feeling of warmth and happiness from home. Dumplings and oil cakes are made later and can be prepared a day or two before the Spring Festival. This week or so, we filled the two huge refrigerators step by step.
