Ever Complete, Never Whole

Cooking with my family during the first month of the lunar year has become a tradition for us during the Spring Festival.

During the twelfth lunar month, my parents begin preparing various meat dishes leading up to the 25th. Braised beef, stewed chicken, boiled mutton, steamed meatballs, egg rolls, crispy roasted pork, and fried hairtail are just a few examples of the delicious meals they prepare. The food brings a sense of comfort and joy to our home. Dumplings and fried cakes are made closer to the Spring Festival, usually a day or two before. Our two big refrigerators are filled gradually over the course of a week or so.
